A few notes. The composition of my portfolio may have changed over time, but my goal and my method for achieving that goal has not. And it works. In that regard consistency over time when it comes to investing has proven to be true.
I have, however, given up a small amount of consistency in monthly payouts to achieve larger goals. I’m taking an even broader view of my timeline now that I’m a few years in. So while I got about $180 dollars in dividends this past month, I know it will fluctuate month to month. And this will swing even more as I continue to invest in my current portfolio.
I’ve considered refactoring my portfolio a second time to focus solely on increasing my income, but that portfolio didn’t really grow at all. I’m okay with that. I think through consistency I’ve learned that patience here will be rewarded. I may add some downside protection, but as long as I’m responsible in my choices I think this portfolio is a winner. At least for my goals and the amount of risk I am willing to take on.
