I admit it. When it comes to side hustles – I’m lazy. I want something easy. Something that works. Taking surveys, doing tasks, investing, trading, and churning are all things I understand and things I can do on my phone while I’m on the go. They take time to research and to set up various systems to capture the best opportunities, but they are profitable. When I read about things like affiliate marketing or eBooks or building courses it just sounds like a lot of work. And there’s no guarantee that there will be any sales.
I want to talk a bit about alternative investments. My goal is still $100 dollars a month in passive dividend income, but I think my scope has been somewhat narrow. There are a couple of other opportunities out there. One I am interested in is a private real estate fund called Fundrise. There are similar companies out there, but they usually require a greater up front investment or only pay once a year and so they don’t quite fit in with my goals. Fundrise seems to have the longest history out of all of them. The only other option I’m looking at in this sector is Arrived – because of the way it’s structured – but it’s so new I’m just not sure.
I’ve also been looking at regular old CDs or certificate’s of deposit. Before the Fed raised interest rates these weren’t all that interesting, but now they are yielding over 5%. It could be a good way to lock in a safe rate. Or a CD ladder might be the way to go, but again these may require a decent up front investment, especially if buying through a broker like Fidelity. Though they do offer fractional CDs for as little as $100 dollars now.
I haven’t pulled the trigger on matched betting yet either, but I’ve continued to do research in this area. This also requires a decent bankroll up front to make it work, but the math seems to track.
In any case, last week was another big win in terms of beer money income as I continue my quest toward $100 dollars a month in passive income.
